Campus Student Support Assistant 6M FTC (Hamilton)

Our modernised Hamilton campus is seeking a part-time Student Support Assistant (Teacher Aide) for a 6 month fixed term contract with the possibility to be extended. This role is 25 hours per week (0.63 FTE) , Monday to Friday, between 8:30 am–3:00 pm.

You will work closely with classroom teachers, providing ongoing guidance and support to the students. The role involves data monitoring, communication with families and staff, and contributing to individualised education plans.

Key Responsibilities:

• Help the students build confidence and access the curriculum.
• Provide feedback and input during Individualised Learning Plan (ILP) meetings.
• Use strategies to the support learners with Autism, Down Syndrome and others with auditory, speech or visual challenges that require adapted ciriculum.
• Assist with classroom activities and equipment preparation.
• Participate in school activities where required.

Experience Required:

• Experience supporting young people, particularly with learning challenges.
• Knowledge of the New Zealand Curriculum and adaptive teaching methods preferred but not essential.
• Strong digital competency and relationship-building skills.
• Patience, resilience, and empathy.
