We’re certainly going places and to support our expanding portfolio across New Zealand with our recent exciting partnership with Heritage Hotels, we’re on the lookout for a Director of People and Capability NZ (based in Auckland) to join us supporting our Hotel Teams in New Zealand.

ABOUT THE ROLE….

Reporting to the Director of People and Capability ANZ, and Director of Operations NZ, as the Director of People and Capability NZ you’re the go-to for anyone and everyone within your region on any HR-related matter.

From hiring new recruits, providing expert guidance on performance management and employment law to being a trusted coach and confidant, you’re always on hand to support and always with a smile!

You love coordinating activities that influence and continuously ignite team member curiosity, creating additional team engagement. You know all the secrets to organisational change – from projects to every-day tasks – you’re ready to roll up your sleeves and help hotel leaders tackle and resolve any sensitive issues that come their way.

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Employee Relations
    • Confidently partner with Managers to resolve sensitive team member issues or complaints, performance matters, disciplinary issues and grievances and conflicts.
    • Coach and guide Managers through difficult conversations and on occasion are present during these conversations as support, facilitator and/or mediator.
  • Organisational change
    • Project manage organisational change – including redundancy management, hotel transitions and facilitating team consultation.
  • Workplace Safety and Wellbeing
    • A key support to the Regional WH&S Business Partner on local issue management and co-ordination and follow-up as required on any team member incident or local workers compensation claims.
    • Support leaders in localised wellbeing initiatives.
  • Talent Planning and Management
    • In partnership with the Regional General Manager, undertake talent reviews (performance and potential profile) of your hotel leaders and build succession plans.
    • Coach your hotel leaders through the bi-annual performance review process and subsequent talent review and succession planning for their hotel teams.
  • Culture
    • Ensure our EVP shines through in any interaction you have with potential talent and all team members.
    • You encourage the same approach and commitment among the Hiring Managers in your region and constantly work towards reducing vacancy and time to fill figures.
  • Capability Development
    • Support the Learning & Organisational Development Team on the delivery of training programs and compliance and you’re always ready to jump in and facilitate ad hoc training as required on people processes and management.
    • Support cross training and skills development across departments and teams.
    • Projects
    • You take the lead on and/or support key HR projects such as Remuneration Review, Team Survey, Purpose & Values, Diversity and Inclusion, Policy & Procedure updates, new Training Programs etc. managing project plans, contributing ideas and sharing feedback and lessons learnt.

 ABOUT YOU:

  • Min. 6 years’ experience in a similar sized and structured organisation (8 properties/418 FTE)
  • Formal tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business or Commerce
  • Strong knowledge of NZ Employer Relations Act, Living and Minimum Wage structures and migration.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office 365, HRIS & Payroll systems
  • Outstanding organisation and time management skills
  • High Level of detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) 
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently and with accuracy in a busy environment
  • Previous experience with Dayforce (desirable)
  • A positive attitude and the ability to influence decisions
