You will be responsible for leading the team in a variety of alpine weather conditions, ensuring our ability to make snow is maximised though the training and development of your team, as well as the maintenance and upkeep of our machinery. We operate a TechnoAlpin equipment; with a combination of automated and manual guns - both fans and lances. You'll also be responsible to lead our snow grooming team, who predominately work at night, ensuring they are able to operate safely and effectively to prepare and maintain trails, roads, lift load/unload areas and terrain parks.

In the summer months you will project manage terrain developments, including contractor management, financial reporting and operational planning.   

You will be required to complete (but not limited to) the following tasks: 

  • Responsibility for snowmaking system 
  • Day-to-day leadership and operation of the snowmaking and grooming (Slopes) departments
  • Weekly, monthly and seasonal reports on departmental performance - generation and analysis
  • Mentoring the grooming and snowmaking teams
  • Identifying training needs and developing & implementing training plans
  • Manage time effectively and display strong organisational skills
  • Communicate effectively within and across teams including regular weekly updates to senior managers 
  • Work alongside the team to deliver a consistent product and friendly service
  • Promote and support Health and Safety in the Workplace
  • Promote and support the Sustainability Committee in its achievements
  • Develop a positive community profile
  • Manage efficiency of snowmaking and grooming operations
  • Work closely with maintenance department to proactively identify and address system faults
  • Build effective working relationships with key subcontractors including Techno Alpin and Ski Industries

We're looking for: 

  • At least 3+ years’ experience in the Snowsports Industry, specifically in a Grooming and/or Snowmaking position. 
  • Leadership experience within the Snowsports Industry or similar. 
  • A Leadership style that is composed, confident, and approachable. 
  • Ability to operate a Snow Groomer is important, experience and/or knowledge of winching would be advantageous.
  • Experience making snow, with a good knowledge of pumping systems and the ability to fault find and troubleshoot errors
  • Experience around TechnoAlpin snowmaking equipment
  • ATASS software together with Kassbohrer SNOWsat software would be advantageous.
  • A good knowledge of health and safety practices specifically relating to managing people, plant and machinery.
  • A desire to be part of the leadership team, and contribute to wider ski area operations  
  • Project management skills and experience including contractor management
  • IT Skills, specifically MS Project, MS Excel and asset management software preferred  
  • Openness to work evenings and nights if/when required.
