We are looking for an experienced Contract Engineer with ideally at least five years' experience in contract supervision to join our Transport Infrastructure Networks team.  In this role you will successfully manage and directly supervise assigned Rotorua Lakes Council (RLC) transport activities, contracts, projects and/or programmes in accordance with the RLC transport programme.

Our projects will be either OPEX or CAPEX construction projects and the position requires direct supervision where you will be acting as the Engineering Representative to ensure works are undertaken in accordance with specifications and consent conditions that apply.

You will need to hold an engineering tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, whether at a NZCE, Diploma or Degree level and have a current full driver's licence. Formal Project Management training or certification in Prince2, PMP or Agile would also be an advantage.

You will be working with a range of stakeholders, both external and internal so you will need to be able to develop good working relationships while maintaining an effective and respected audit and inspection regime.  You will need to be able to demonstrate cultural awareness when interacting with Te Arawa and all Māori stakeholders in the delivery of services.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work unsupervised and be self-motivated, while also working collaboratively with the Transport and wider Infrastructure team.

Being well organised, with an ability to plan, adapt, and deal effectively with changing priorities and requirements to meet important activities/tasks within specified timeframes is also essential in this role.
