Rotorua Lakes Council is looking for a dynamic and experienced Project Manager to join our team, focusing on the delivery of stormwater infrastructure projects under the Infrastructure Acceleration Fund (IAF) Stormwater Programme. Role Purpose
As a Project Manager in the IAF Stormwater Programme, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of multiple stormwater infrastructure projects. Reporting to the IAF Programme Manager, you will ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will play a key role in coordinating resources, managing contractors, and mitigating risks, ensuring that the programme’s objectives are met and that the infrastructure contributes to Rotorua’s long-term development goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Management: Develop and manage detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, and deliverables for stormwater infrastructure projects.
- Risk and Issue Management: Identify, assess, and manage project-specific risks and issues. Implement effective mitigation strategies to ensure successful delivery.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including iwi, local authorities, contractors, and community groups.
- Contract and Supplier Management: Oversee contractor performance and ensure compliance with contracts. Assist with contract variations as needed.
- Financial Management: Monitor project budgets and provide regular updates to the IAF Programme Manager to ensure resources are effectively managed.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all project deliverables meet Council and regulatory standards, conducting regular reviews and audits.
- Reporting: Provide regular updates to the IAF Programme Manager on project performance, ensuring transparency and accountability.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing infrastructure or construction projects, preferably within the stormwater sector.
- Formal project management certification (e.g., Prince2, PMP, or equivalent).
- Proven experience in managing stormwater infrastructure projects.
- Strong relationship management skills and experience working with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Expertise in financial management and contract supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and ensure delivery within scope, time, and budget.
