We are seeking a Senior Licensing Officer to provide and ensure responsive and professional regulatory services across our Licensing Team. This role focuses on achieving consistent, timely and proportionate regulatory and licensing responses and improved regulatory related safety outcomes for the Rotorua Community.

 

You will actively assist the Team Leader, Licensing in the provision of a broad range of expert licensing and regulatory advice, provide community education, fulfil inspection and enforcement requirements while always striving for top quality customer service and to positively contribute to Rotorua’ s reputation.

Rotoruas geothermal environment is world renown, exciting and unique. The successful candidate will have a primary focus on assisting Council’s Geothermal Advisor to effectively manage and enforce Council’s public safety responsibilities relating to shallow geothermal bores, and natural geothermal features under Council’s Geothermal Bylaw. Experience in this field while preferred, is not essential as frequent learning opportunities will be provided to the successful candidate.  

 

Geothermal responsibilities are followed closely by the enforcement of Resource Management Act (land use) matters, and the processing of Alcohol licence applications. You will gain the opportunity to actively grow your own knowledge and gain experience while sharing your learnings with the licensing team to also grow capability within the team.

 

Additionally, your duties will also include inspection of licensed food and alcohol premises, complaint and bylaw investigation and enforcement, noise monitoring, analysis and response and providing senior level input into Council’s policies, strategies, procedures and guidelines where required. You will also undertake the duties of Team Leader in their absence.

 

We are seeking a motivated compliance professional with three to five years of relevant or transferable enforcement/regulatory experience in as many of the above-mentioned fields as possible. Additional training and further practical experience will be provided to the successful candidate in all of the above fields to ensure continuing growth pathways and opportunities.
