About The Role
Our Deputies support our Underground Mining Operations by providing leadership and direction to our vital underground shift crews in all planned mining activities. The Gas Drainage and Ventilation Deputy is responsible for maintaining, managing, and optimising critical gas drainage and ventilation systems to ensure a safe and compliant underground working environment. The role focuses on the effective operation of the Tube Bundle System, Real-time monitoring, gas monitoring infrastructure, borehole maintenance, spontaneous combustion management, and assisting with ventilation surveys and pressure monitoring.
What You’ll Do
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of the Tube Bundle System as well as real-time gas monitoring.
- Monitor and maintain Hole Flow and UIS patterns
- Conduct ventilation audits and compliance activities
- Calibrate and troubleshoot system components to maintain compliance with statutory requirements.
- Participate in risk assessments and incident investigations related to gas drainage, ventilation, and spontaneous combustion.
- Deliver training and coaching to operational personnel on gas drainage and ventilation procedures.
What You’ll Bring
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Underground Longwall Mining
- Deputies certificate of competency and current practicing certificate
- Cert IV Underground Coal Mining
- Cert IV OH&S Workplace Safety (desirable)
- Ability to promote a positive safety culture within the mine
- Ability to motivate yourself and others to meet production targets whilst maintaining positive team culture
- Strong organisational and time management skills
