About The Role
The Maintenance Superintendent is accountable for establishing maintenance plans for the Open Cut Operations, ensuring that equipment operates within budget, to targets of availability and reliability, and to manufacturer’s specification. As this position is on a 9-day fortnight, the ideal candidate will either reside in or be willing to relocate to the Gunnedah Region (assistance provided).
What You’ll Do
- Assist in the achievement of cost-effective operations of the maintenance department in accordance with annual operating plans and budgets by maintaining optimum work practices, maximising productivity, and ensuring effective utilisation of staff and resources.
- Manage OTR tyre performance, organising their cost-effective procurement and conducting monthly inspections and reports on performance levels | Schedule major component change outs, equipment overhauls and repair of Whitehaven-owned components.
- Work with the Management Team to ensure that maintenance and other targets are achieved across the operation | Develop budgets and forecasts for the Maintenance department that is accurate and considers possible shifts in the operating environment
- Provide fair and supportive leadership that includes planning, guiding, directing, coaching and encouraging individual contributions of employees | Be committed to your own self-development, and the personal growth of your employees, by actively participating in and completing regular performance reviews.
- Investigate and report incidents promptly, identify hazards and rectify them in a timely manner | Maintain an up-to-date awareness of all relevant safety requirements, legislation and policies, and communicate these to employees.
What You’ll Bring
- Superior skills in process analysis with a strong systems-based approach | Sound planning and budget preparation skills
- Mechanical Trade Certificate of Proficiency Qualification (mandatory)
- Extensive experience with heavy earthmoving machinery
- Experience in the coal mining industry
- Excellent interpersonal, cooperative and facilitation skills as part of interfacing with various levels of management
