Engineer - Projects

About The Role 

We have an exciting & rare opportunity for a Project Engineer to join our Narrabri Coal Operations.

Based at our Underground site and reporting to the Engineering Manager, you’ll manage mechanical projects from start to finish, ensuring they meet design specs, budgets, and deadlines. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to develop project plans and budgets to achieve key outcomes.

What You’ll Do

• Manage projects from conception to completion, ensuring adherence to project design specifications and timelines.
• Proactively manage costs by conducting regular reconciliations of expenditure against budget, as well as cost reviews to identify risks and opportunities within all projects
• Develop and Manage project budgets for the Life of Mine and 5yr plan.
• Conducting site assessments on the surface or underground to determine project feasibility and gather technical requirements.
• Coordinate with contractors, suppliers and regulatory authorities to facilitate project execution.

What You’ll Bring

To be successful in this role, you’ll need strong project management skills, the ability to collaborate effectively with teams, and a keen eye for detail.   A proactive approach to problem-solving and adaptability in a dynamic environment are essential. Experience in mechanical engineering, along with solid budget and timeline management, will be key to driving projects to successful completion.

• Experience in the Underground coal mining industry (advantageous)
• Minimum 3+ years of proven experience in a mechanical project management position
• Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, systems and components
• Proficiency in project management software & CAD
• Detail orientated & strong problem-solving abilities.
