About the Role
This is a permanent Full-time opportunity working 35hours/ week and will be based in Dubbo with regular outreach across the Western NSW region
Uniting is seeking a passionate Aboriginal Caseworker to join our Family Connect and Support (FCS) team based in Dubbo, with outreach across Western NSW. This is an identified role for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, offering the opportunity to work directly with families and children (0-18 years) experiencing or at risk of vulnerability.
• Build strong, meaningful relationships with families, providing culturally safe and responsive support.
• Engage with families, offering short-term casework, case planning, and service coordination.
• Work with low, medium, and high-complexity cases, ensuring families receive the right support at the right time.
• Conduct outreach, home visits, and assessments, helping families navigate services and access support.
• Collaborate with key partners including DCJ, schools, hospitals, and wellbeing units, as well as accepting self-referrals.
About You
- This is an identified position for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Aboriginality is a genuine qualification authorised under Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination ACT 1977. Successful applicants will be required to provide appropriate evidence of identity as an Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.
- A deep understanding of Aboriginal communities, their strengths, challenges, and cultural protocols.
- Experience working with Aboriginal families, supporting them through advocacy, casework, and community connections.
- Strong relationship-building skills to engage families, break down barriers, and provide practical support.
- The ability to assess and identify risk while working in a trauma-informed and culturally safe way.
- Qualifications in Community Services, Social Sciences, Youth Work, or a related field (desirable but not essential).
- A current NSW Driver’s Licence and Working with Children Check.
