About the role:

Reporting to the Hotel General Manager, we are seeking a “hands-on” Executive Chef, responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of our Kitchen and C&E department. With no two days the same, this role is responsible for Mackenzies Restaurant, special/gala events, weddings, conferences, and everything in between.

About you:

• Min 5+ years’ experience as an Executive Chef, with a proven track record in Food & Beverage.
• Thorough knowledge in the use of fresh produce, seasonal cooking, and innovative menu design, across conference and events spaces.
• In-depth understanding of all areas of hospitality kitchen operations, with strong financial acumen (menu costing and execution and labour costs)
• A “hands on” leader, able to step in and support the team “on the pans” when needed.
• Strong team and stakeholder relationship management.
• An established track record of developing and leading a high performing kitchen brigade.
• Proven knowledge, understanding and execution of HACCP and Food Safety
• Commercially savvy, controlling costs through driving revenue and profit growth across Food & Beverage.
• Full permanent working rights for New Zealand (essential)
