We are currently seeking an experienced Production Manager to join our team in Tamworth. Reporting to the site manager, you will be responsible for ensuring a safe work environment, meeting production targets, maintaining budget control, and managing resources efficiently. The role involves overseeing maintenance, quality assurance, and inventory management, as well as driving continuous improvement initiatives.

The key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Ensure all workplace activities comply with Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) standards, environmental regulations, and company policies to maintain a safe and responsible work environment
  • Ensure all aspects of the manufacturing process for the various production facilities are managed, planned and executed within acceptable tolerances and to site targets
  • Investigate and rectify production & quality issues where possible prior to product leaving site.
  • A key member of the site leadership team, provide Leadership, Mentoring and coaching to all employees on site.
  • Ensure all aspects of the manufacturing process are managed, planned and executed within acceptable tolerances and to site targets.
  • Monitor operation of plant equipment and systems. (OEE% Overall Equipment Efficiency & TPH) accurately recording unplanned and planned downtime, tonnes of mash and finished feed produced.
  • Prepare reports, analyses data, promote problem solving and make recommendations for improving plant operations
  • Investigate and act on reported environmental complaints, such as noise, odours, or spills, and liaise with relevant authorities when necessary.

The key skills and experience required for this role include

  • Ability to visualise and implement improvement programs (people & manufacturing processes)
  • High attention to detail
  • Experience with continuous improvement programs and initiatives
  • Demonstrated people leader and able to build credibility and confidence with team members
  • Demonstrated experience with production planning, control and measurement methodologies
  • Exposure to MRP2 and ERP environment
  • Ability to work in a team and with key stakeholders
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a food or stockfeed manufacturing industry with exposure to plant management and process automation
  • Bachelors in Engineering or Food science or Animal Nutrition or Manufacturing (desirable)
