This is a key role within the Site Operations team and is responsible for maintaining all operating equipment in the condition to deliver full design duty (reliability).  Ensures plant and equipment run properly when it is required for operation (availability).  Correct plant equipment and machines when the design duty cannot be achieved and then return them to design specification (capability).

The key responsibilities for this position include:

Comply with relevant OHS/WHS legislation including:

  • Maintains safety, health and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Ensure at all times that the plant and equipment meet specified standards is in safe working condition and that QA requirements are maintained.
  • Coordinates maintenance activities with Operations team
  • Ensure timely response to emergency breakdowns
  • Implements programs and procedures required to ensure plant cleanliness. (5S)
  • Reviews the operation of plant equipment and systems constantly, to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate solve problems in a timely manner, and to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Monitors operation of plant equipment and systems. (OEE% Overall Equipment Efficiency & AV% Plant Availability)
  • Maintain assets most profitably for the life of the organisation. (life cycle profit)
  • Establishes and maintains a computerised maintenance management system (Guardian) for tracking work orders, spare parts and maintenance history of plant equipment.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance, modification and repairs on all general plant and equipment to enable efficient and safe operation
  • Prepares reports, analyses data, and makes recommendations for improving plant operations and solving maintenance-related problems. Active participant in the CI program.
  • Ensures that maintenance electricians are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated so that the maintenance program can be accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
  • Coordinate capital projects, liaising with Engineering Services Manager and relevant Project Managers.
  • Initiates and carries out projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
  • Participate in objective setting, plan development and performance review of plant performance. (KPI’s)
  • Monitors the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment and initiates reordering when necessary
  • Some weekend work and over time will be required for call outs to repair breakdowns
  • Attend maintenance Stand-up meetings and other site meeting as required.
  • Conduct Root cause analysis on mill breakdowns and safety issues/hazards as required.
  • Any other responsibilities and/or authorities as specifically designated by Operations Manager or Delegate.

The key requirements of this role include:

  • 5+years industry experience working with manufacturing and maintenance teams
  • Qualified Electrician.
  • EWP Operations license
  • Sound knowledge of OH&S and Environmental Policies and Legislation.
  • Current Drivers and Forklift license.
  • Sound computer skills
  • Microsoft Office and AX programs.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Relevant tickets to perform tasks
  • Maintenance experience
