Senior Waste and Circular Economy Officer

Status: Permanent full-time (35 hours per week)
Salary: $104,949 - $120,692 + 11.5% superannuation
Randwick City Council is an innovative and progressive Council committed to serving our vibrant community on the eastern beaches of Sydney. Our Sustainability and Resilience Team is seeking a Senior Waste and Circular Economy Officer.
Purpose:
The purpose of the role is to execute and lead complex projects and initiatives aligned to circular economy and resource recovery goals and strategic priorities that reduce Council’s and the community’s environmental impact and enhances resilience.
About the role:
- Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships with key stakeholders including government agencies, NGOs, community groups, and industry partners to foster collaboration and support for sustainability initiatives.
- Project Management and Performance Evaluation: Lead cross-functional teams to deliver complex projects on time and within budget while monitoring outcomes, mitigating risks, and ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Research and Thought Leadership: Conduct advanced research and analysis on emerging trends, technologies, and innovations in circular economy and resource recovery, translating insights into actionable strategies and initiatives.
About you:
- Proficiency in project planning, execution, and monitoring, with experience managing complex projects from inception to completion within budget and timelines.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage and negotiate with diverse stakeholders, including senior executives, government officials, NGOs, and community leaders.
- Knowledge of circular economy and resource recovery principles, practices, and frameworks.
- Proficiency in conducting research, data analysis, and interpreting technical information to inform decision-making and strategy development.
