Communications Officer

The Role
Reporting to the Head of Executive Communications & Media, the Communications Officer will be responsible for both leading and supporting the delivery of strategic communications advice, supporting the organisation’s corporate affairs function, Office of the CEO, settlement programs, advocacy campaigns, and general organisational initiatives and events.
This will be a 12-month contract position, developing content for the Office of the CEO and wider organisation on behalf of the corporate communications function. This includes journal articles, speeches, video scripts, blogs, and targeted correspondence with key external and internal stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to leverage company specific data and corporate announcements (internal and external) across multi-media, digital, video and livestream channels.
- Working with line management groups to build and implement corporate communications solutions in line with business needs including, but not limited to the AGM and annual report supporting the department leads, and some program marketing activity supporting Program leads.
- Working with the advocacy and research team to coordinate the development of advocacy focused content through the development of internal and external content strategies and materials. This includes the writing, photographing, video development, editing, designing, and publishing of blogs, newsletters, presentations, social media, and website content.
- Develop and pitch media stories to support the aims of key SSI programs and initiatives, with a particular focus on settlement programs, research, policy and advocacy.
- Develop communications collateral including in-language suitable for CALD communities, with a strong focus on written communication skills and social media content development
- Develop and write nominations for industry award applications to elevate the reputation of SSI and highlight the achievements of key staff and stakeholders.
- Lead and support the ideation and delivery of 360 communications plans designed to enhance corporate brand and market key initiatives.

About You
As an exceptional communicator, you will be eager to learn and kick-start your Communications career. This is great opportunity to hone your written communication skills and develop media engagement skills, gaining hands-on experience in a community focused NFP organisation.
Essential criteria:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Communications or an equivalent field.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills, along with strong presentation skills.
- Ability to liaise at all levels inside and outside the organisation.
- Adaptability to changing environment and workloads.
- Ability to act on initiative.
- Basic knowledge of video and image editing techniques and software.
- Experience implementing and developing internal and external strategies and channels.
