About the role:
The Head of Contract Management is a newly created role responsible for overseeing and managing all property lease, Licence, and service agreements across SSCT precincts and venues. Reporting to the General Manager Commercial, this role will play a crucial part in ensuring SSCT’s contractual obligations and entitlements are understood, effectively managed, and met.
As a trusted advisor to the Senior Leadership team, you will support the preparation, negotiation, and management of agreements. You will also work closely with the Executive team to lead commercial negotiations with lessees, licensees, and major suppliers. Additionally, this role collaborates with SSCT’s Procurement Business Partner to ensure effective planning for contract renewals and procurement processes.
As Head of Contract Management your primary responsibilities will include:
- Oversight and management of lease, licence, service, and other agreements across SSCT venues (Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre, Sports House, State Netball and Hockey Centre, Lakeside Stadium, Knox Regional Sports Park)
- Lead commercial negotiations for new agreements, ensuring SSCT’s obligations and entitlements are well understood and actively managed
- Provide expert commercial and legal advice on contracting and procurement matters
- Maintain structured record-keeping and manage a comprehensive register of all agreements within a single document management system
- Effectively plan for agreement renewal processes, including market reviews, benchmarking, and procurement evaluations
- Oversee contract disputes and conflict resolution when required
- Regularly review service standards and ensure contractor performance meets service level agreements
Required skills and Qualifications:
- Extensive experience managing contracts in both commercial and public sector contexts. Proven ability in drafting agreements, conducting negotiations, and ensuring statutory compliance
- Strong relationship management skills, with the ability to hold lessees, licensees, and suppliers accountable for deliverables
- Experience in procurement and tendering processes, ensuring compliance with Victorian Government procurement requirements
- Expertise in contract law, interpreting agreement terms, and resolving disputes between parties
- Ability to evaluate contract performance, develop organizational policies, and identify strategic improvements
- Victorian Working With Children’s Check (Employee)
