The Role
An exciting opportunity has become available for a dedicated Maintenance Officer to help our close-knit team maintain our beautiful village, Martha’s Point.
Located a short walk from the beach, this welcoming retirement village boasts immaculately landscaped gardens and an array of resort style amenities and services, all complimented by the recently refurbished community centre for our residents and their families to enjoy.
As a Maintenance Officer you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our properties by undertaking maintenance activities and providing excellent customer service to our residents. We are seeking a proactive individual with strong communication skills and a knack for problem-solving.
The successful candidate will support the close-knit team on a permanent part-time basis, working a 5-day fortnight. No weekend work!
Reporting to the Village Manager, your duties will include;
- Coordinating and undertaking maintenance tasks, repairs, and inspections for residential properties
- Assisting with basic handyperson tasks as needed, including minor repairs and installations
- Performing light gardening duties, including weeding, and pruning, shaping scrubs, mulching and general clean up
- Implementing and adhering to EHS procedures, ensuring safety of all residents, visitors and contractors
- Communicating effectively with residents to address maintenance requests promptly and efficiently
- Collaborating with external contractors to ensure timely completion of work orders
- Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities and update databases accordingly
- Assisting with various Adhoc duties where required, as directed by the Village Manager
- Transporting residents for outings and shopping trips in the village bus
About You
The successful applicant will have demonstrated competence as a maintenance assistant, tradesperson or trade assistant or experience in a similar role, as well as:
- Be organised and able to effectively manage and prioritise multiple tasks
- Have effective communication skills
- Proven experience using machinery and tools required for the job
- Have own vehicle and A current Australian Heavy Rigid (HR) driver’s licence (or be willing to obtain)
- A current First Aid Certificate (or be willing to obtain one)
- Be computer literate, with a basic understanding of how to use Microsoft Office Suite and Applications
- The ability to take initiative and be pro-active
- The ability to work individually and in a team
Relevant internal training and inductions will be provided to the successful candidate on-site.
Please note: The successful applicant must complete a Police Check & will be required to receive an annual flu vaccination between the months of April-October, with supporting documentation prior to joining. For selected roles, pre-employment medical assessments will also be required prior to any employment offers being made.
