Located at our Vermont Estate Village at South Plympton, your day will see you working in picturesque surrounds, with quality amenities and a lively community that sets the backdrop for an enviable workplace.
We are seeking an energetic, committed and customer-oriented Maintenance Officer/Gardener to become an integral part of our team on a permanent full-time basis.
Working hours:
- Monday to Friday, 8AM – 4PM.
Working under the guidance of the Village Manager, the Maintenance Officer/Gardener is responsible for the execution of the maintenance activity within the village in accordance with existing frameworks and budget ensuring all work is carried out following the correct procedures.
Additionally, your role will include basic groundskeeping, general garden and property maintenance, ensuring the village is properly kept for the enjoyment of the residents. Your duties will include:
- Ensure maintenance and repairs of common property including grounds, facilities and gardens, as required
- Perform basic handyperson tasks including cleaning, painting, lighting maintenance, clearing gutters, disposal of rubbish, checking and maintaining air conditioning, tiling, basic plumbing, and general repairs.
- Ensure planned maintenance of village assets is executed in accordance with the maintenance plan and legislative requirements.
- Undertake reactive maintenance on village assets and resident assets as requested.
- Support residents with maintenance in their unit in line with Keyton procedure.
- Ensure that all maintenance activity is conducted to Keyton and Resident Committee standards.
- Ensure all maintenance activity complies with relevant legislation and trade qualifications.
- Utilise Keyton preferred suppliers where relevant and ensure all works are conducted within budget and procedure.
Who You Are
To be successful in your application, you must have:
- Demonstrated experience in General Maintenance works as a maintenance person, tradesperson or handyperson
- Demonstrated competence as a Gardener – weeding, pruning, planting, (preferable)
- An understanding of machinery use and tools required for various repairs
- Be organised and able to effectively manage and prioritise tasks
- Basic computer skills and proficient in using a mobile phone. Maintenance requests will be received and sent via a mobile app
- Have a customer-focused approach to all tasks, whilst having the ability to develop strong and positive relationships
- A genuine interest in assisting the elderly
- The ability to take initiative and be pro-active
- A current First Aid Certificate/ CPR (or be willing to obtain one)
