The Role
An exciting opportunity has become available for a dedicated Head Chef to join our professional team at The Baytree by Ardency, a premium retirement Resort located in Greenwich that has paved the way for a unique retirement experience which combines the very best in independent living with the premium amenities you would expect from a boutique hotel.
As a Head Chef, you will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional dining experiences to our valued residents. You will have the opportunity to create delicious, well-balanced meals that cater to the unique dietary needs and preferences of our residents. These will include a combination of A la Carte, Table D Hote & Banquet menus, along with morning & afternoon teas. As this is independent retirement living and not aged care, there isn’t a need to prepare textured diets.
Reporting to the Resort Manager, your duties will include;
- Leading the kitchen team, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks including menu engineering, food preparation, service (lunch & dinner) and cleaning of kitchen
- Management of kitchen team, including training and fostering a positive work environment in conjunction with the restaurant front of house operations team
- Overseeing kitchen operations efficiencies, including ordering, inventory control, and budget management
- Special event preparation and service (which may fall outside normal shift hours)
- EH&S & HACCP regulation
- Internal and external audits, ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in the kitchen
- Interacting with residents to gather feedback and adapt the menu accordingly
Shifts
- Tuesday 7:00AM – 2:00PM
- Wednesday 9AM- 2:00PM
- Thursday 7:00AM – 2:00PM
- Friday 10:00AM – 8:00PM
- Saturday 10:00AM – 9:00PM
- Special event preparation & service outside of these hours from time to time
About you
Your proactive and customer-focused attitude will see you succeed in the role, as well as an ability to work autonomously to deliver professional outcomes. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and your commitment to team work will be key to your success in this role, as will:
- Relevant trade certificate or qualification in Commercial cookery or similar
- Demonstrated competence in a similar role such as Hotels or Restaurants
- Knowledge of dietary restrictions requirements and the ability to adapt recipes to meet specific needs
- A dedication to food safety and hygiene
- Highly organised and able to effectively manage and prioritise multiple tasks
- Highly motivated and able to take initiative
- Current Driver's Licence
- Level 2 First Aid Certificate (or be willing to obtain one)
