Primary objective:
This role is accountable for leading their allocated team to safely, efficiently and effectively deliver tyre management services in accordance with the site contract management plan and direction from Superintendent Reginal Operations and Manager Operations.
Specifically the role is accountable for:

OVERALL OBJECTIVES
- Supervise and lead all Otraco operations on their site
- Ensure completion of scheduled and unscheduled work and liaise with the Client, taking pride and ownership in delivering a high level of customer service.

- Demonstrate a willingness to learn and develop personal management skills and knowledge as well and mentor and develop the Tyre Technician capabilities.

- Provide visible leadership by interacting and engaging with your team by maximising your time in the tyre bay where you will have more opportunity to coach and mentor team members.
TECHNICAL OBJECTIVES
- Identify haul road, pit locations and operator practices that lead to reduced tyre life and higher tyre usage and provide solutions to minimise these problems.
- Conduct training with key client representatives in tyre cost reduction techniques, including the provision of recommended haul road design and maintenance parameters and conduct regular tyre awareness presentations to mine equipment operators, production supervisors, mine maintenance and mine design representatives.
- Ensure tooling is calibrated by due dates, maintained, and in adequate supply to safely perform the work in accordance with OBP’s and client requirements.
- Identify manufacturer warranty opportunities and manage these claims on behalf of and in conjunction with the client.
- Conduct supplier audits and assess products to ensure effective delivery of service to the client.
- Maintain the work environment to a safe standard and to a level that promotes Otraco as a professional team. This means addressing hazards, ensuring housekeeping is always maintained, office space is neat and tidy and shared facility’s such as crib rooms are kept clean.
- Action corrective actions from audits.
- Assist where required with the fitment and removal of wheel assemblies, tyres and rims to production and any other type of vehicle in accordance with relevant procedures.
- Mount and strip any other type of tyre and rim assembly in accordance with relevant procedures.
- Perform repairs to tyres and tubes in accordance with relevant procedures (where relevant).
- Ensure data entry for the tracking, analysing and managing all EM tyres, rims and tyre protection chains (where relevant) is completed by utilising the Otracom electronic tyre database. This also means putting steps in place to check data accuracy.
- Regularly audit all equipment and consumables and verify that all consumables and equipment ordered are correctly supplied in terms of quantities and specifications.
- Monitor tyre operating pressures to ensure that they are maintained and documented in accordance with site specifications.
- Make regular inspections with relevant client personnel, of mine operating areas and conditions, and present reports back to the client as necessary.
- Ensure that branding of EM tyres (if applicable) and stamping EM rim bases with identification numbers are completed to facilitate tyre and rim tracking in accordance with Client procedure.
- Manager the rotation of tyres on each machine to maximise tyre life without unduly compromising mine production.
- Visual inspections of rim conditions will be completed on site at regular intervals and reported on.
- Inspect tyres and rims that have been removed, and include in the monthly report, details of reasons for removal of EM tyres and recommendations for their disposal, reconditioning or re-use.
- Ensure that upon receipt, all new tyres are inspected for faults or damage, including damage incurred in-transit and reported directly to the client.
HEALTH, SAFETY, ENVIRONMENT AND TRAINING OBJECTIVES
- Actively promote a HSET culture across the region and lead by example
- Ensure that all personnel work safely and comply with Otraco procedures, as well as any Client legislative requirements
- Assist with the investigation of hazards, incidents and unsafe work conditions and equipment, and implement actions to eliminate or reduce risks to acceptable levels
- Ensure that all procedures are understood and compiled with by all personnel
- Ensure appropriate steps have taken place before each task is performed to identify potential hazards and put the necessary controls in place. This means using appropriate tools such as Take 5’s, JHA’s and risk assessments.
- Conduct safety observations as per KPI target (minimum).
- Recognise that you have the authority, and responsibility to stop any tasks that you don’t believe to be safe.
- Maintain standards and implement improvements as necessary in respect to health and safety. This includes but is not limited to group meetings, house-keeping, planned inspections, safety tours etc.
- Review and recommend improvements to existing procedures, to encourage the adoption of best practice and standardisation across all Otraco operations.

REPORTING
- Provide recommendations to manage both on-site and off-site reconditioning of tyres and rims including repairs, re-treads and non-destructive testing.
- Provide assistance with end of month reporting by providing a written overview of site progress.
- Compile premature failure reports to the client as required.
- Carry out regular put audits and report to the client as required.
- Ensure you are proficient with the operation of all computer programs required to manage tyres, tooling, equipment and personnel on site.
Job Specification: (essential or desirable qualities required – i.e. education, knowledge / skills)
ESSENTIAL
- Experience within the Earthmover tyre and mining industries
- Cert II in Automotive Tyre Servicing Technology (AUR21916, AUR21913) or equivalent
- Approximately two years of supervisor experience in the earthmover industry
- Section 44
- A valid and appropriate heavy vehicle drivers licence (Class HR in Australia)
- A valid and appropriate light vehicle driver’s license (Class C in Australia).
DESIRABLE
- Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace training or Frontline Management
- Computer literacy particularly with Microsoft Office Applications.
