Avant Law is an incorporated legal practice acting on the instructions of Avant Mutual, Australia’s leading defence medical organisation. 
  
We are seeking a Paralegal to join our Melbourne team for a permanent, full-time role. 
  

Key responsibilities for this role include: 

  • Assisting Solicitors in the management of a legal practice and contribute to the effective functioning of the Legal team. 
  • Provide an administrative support function to Avant Law including assisting to prepare legal documentation including briefs, drafting correspondence, court filing, liaising with witnesses, experts, court and/or tribunal staff and assisting with processing of Avant Law’s invoices for professional services. 
  • Coordinating meetings and travel arrangements. 
  • Processing accounts payable invoices, monthly billings and MasterCard reconciliations. 
  • Assisting with general office administration. 
      

The successful applicant will have: 

  • Previous demonstrated experience in an administrative or paralegal position in a legal environment. 
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Fast and accurate typing skills including digital dictation typing. 
  • Experience drafting and formatting legal documentation. 
  • The ability to balance multiple priorities, meet deadlines and show attention to detail. 
  • Intermediate level of competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. 
  • Experience in preparing and maintaining legal files.
