The program 

With a focus on individuals, families and communities in vulnerable situations, volunteers provide fresh produce and pantry items to people at no cost who are on low incomes, experiencing unstable housing or financial stress. The Team Member Volunteer is required to have excellent communication skills and an understanding and empathy for people from diverse backgrounds, at all times, behaving in a completely impartial and non-judgmental manner.) 

The opportunity 

For this role you will need good conversational skills and the ability to relate to and empathise with a broad range of people, including those with different lived experiences, abilities, and cultures. You will be comfortable providing community service information and support to 

people seeking various forms of assistance in the local area, and completing a data collection questionnaire form for each service to capture the vital work you do.

Red Cross will ensure you have training, ongoing support and access to other opportunities within the world’s largest humanitarian network.  

The impact 

As a volunteer, you will help bring your local community vital food relief support and stronger social connection by listening, empathising, and providing them with a friendly voice. You will have the opportunity to learn from many people’s diverse history and knowledge, as well as feeling the satisfaction of giving back to others.     

Application requirements

For this role you will be required to undertake a National Police Check, organised through Red Cross.
