Why Choose to volunteer with Red Cross?

  • You can help improve lives and create a positive impact in your community
  • It’s an opportunity to enhance your skills & knowledge & gain new experiences
  • You’ll be helping Red Cross to support vulnerable people across Australia

The Program

Australian Red Cross’ Migration Support Programs (MSP) are driven to ensure that essential humanitarian needs are provided to migrants as they transition into Australian society.

Australian Red Cross recognises that placements give students the opportunity to gain specific skills to their subject or industry of choice as well as the employability skills required for real-life work. It increases their knowledge of an industry or sector, allowing them to make better informed decisions about their future career choices. It will also provide a helpful insight into organisational culture, professional socialisation, applied skills and working relationships. We recognise the diversity of competencies students develop as part of the experience with us.

The Opportunity

The purpose of the Student Placement in Migration Support Programs is to support caseworkers with client triaging, assessment and on-going casework within the MSP case management model. The MSP Student Placement will play an integral function in this process by providing support to case workers and clients.

Red Cross will ensure you have training, ongoing support and access to other opportunities within the world’s largest humanitarian network.

 The Impact

Our migration programs and services protect and uphold the health, dignity and wellbeing of vulnerable migrants in Australia.

On a student placement with Red Cross, you’ll help improve the wellbeing of people suffering vulnerability as a result of migration, supporting them to move towards financial independence. The Student Placement impact will be tangible, and you will see your contribution making a difference to someone’s life.
