The program
The External Engagement team supports Australian Red Cross’ organisational strategy by working to achieve deep institutional relationships with Federal, State/Territory and Local Governments and relevant sector stakeholders. The team supports Australian Red Cross to effectively communicate policy and funding priorities to Government.
The opportunity
For this role, a strong passion and interest in Government and humanitarian work, will enable you to assist the External Engagement team with the development and delivery of initiatives designed to communicate our advocacy and funding priorities to Government. You will have strong attention to detail and writing skills.
The impact
As a volunteer, you will enable additional capacity to allow the External Engagement team to support humanitarian work across the country. The impact of your work will be the influencing and securing of policy change and funding from government. You will be supported to learn more about how government and Australian Red Cross work in Emergency Services, Migration Support, Community Programs, International Humanitarian Law and International Programs. Throughout your time with Australian Red Cross, you will be supported with appropriate training to undertake all activities.
Application requirements
To submit this application, you will need:
- A copy of your CV (including two referees) and a cover letter outlining your suitability for the role.
- Be undertaking university studies in Policy, Government, Political and International Relations, Humanitarian Studies, Law or a related discipline.
- Possess a strong passion and interest in government and current affairs.
- Have strong attention to detail, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
- Hold a National Police Check; if successful Red Cross can help you organize this.
- The role will also require you to hold or apply for a Working With Children Check or Working With Vulnerable People Check depending on your State/Territory. Red Cross can assist you to apply for this check.
