About the role 

The Specialist – Emergency Workforce and Response role is paramount within the Emergency Response and Operations Team focusing on enhancing emergency preparedness and response capabilities within their designated state or territory. This role integrates critical responsibilities across workforce development and emergency response to ensure efficient and effective emergency response activities.

Day to day you will:

  • Enable emergency response activities during disasters, ensuring prompt and effective deployment of resources.
  • Collaborate closely with local authorities and stakeholders to understand and identify needs
  • Coordinate and support comprehensive engagement activities for emergency response workforce members within the state or territory.
  • Support the implementation and coordination of training and development programs to enhance the readiness and capabilities of local emergency response teams.
  • Conduct regular readiness assessments and recommend improvements to strengthen response preparedness.
  • Foster strong relationships with local agencies, community organisations, and partners to maintain local presence and engagement
  • Facilitate rapid deployment of response workforce for smaller localised emergencies ensuring quick mobilisation and effective utilisation of resources.


What you will bring

  • Sound knowledge gained through experience in incident management, emergency response, community engagement, or related fields.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop and engage a volunteer workforce
  • Strong organisational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities including staff and volunteers during high-pressure situations.
  • Excellent communication and people skills to facilitate collaboration and build relationships among diverse stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset with the capability to assess complex situations and drive continuous improvement.
  • Ability to successfully work with and lead teams and people from diverse backgrounds to create a collaborative working environment
