About the role

The Manager – Emergency Workforce is responsible for overseeing the development, training, and engagement of a nationwide workforce capable of rapidly responding to multiple disasters simultaneously. In this role you will lead a team who are responsible for the development and delivery of training programs, workforce engagement activities, and records management.

Day to Day you will

  • Lead a team of geographically based team members, responsible for training development, delivery, workforce engagement, and records management.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to team members to ensure high performance, consistency and efficiency.
  • Oversee the establishment, improvement and maintenance of a comprehensive training systems and programs for emergency response volunteers across the country.
  • Foster a culture of readiness and commitment among the workforce through regular exercises, workshops, and engagement activities.
  • Develop and implement engagement strategies to maintain high levels of motivation and preparedness among the emergency response workforce.
  • Analyse assessment results and implement necessary improvements and corrective actions.

What you will bring

  • Substantial experience in leadership roles within emergency services, disaster response, or volunteer management, with a focus on workforce development and readiness.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully lead and motivate teams in fast-paced, high-stress environments, with a commitment to fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Extensive experience in integrating and optimising systems for onboarding, training, and compliance, ensuring seamless processes that enhance workforce efficiency and adherence to organisational standards.
  • Proven ability to operate under limited direction from senior employees and lead, motivate, and develop a diverse team of professionals.
  • Substantial knowledge and skills in assessing training needs and workforce readiness, and in developing effective training solutions.
  • Strong capability to work with various stakeholders and build collaborative and innovative culture.
  • Proven success in adapting and adjusting plans and engagement strategies to meet evolving needs and emerging challenges.
