About the role

 

Connect, Match, Support (CMS) is an important migrant support program in Victoria. CMS provides an innovative approach to supporting people seeking asylum and other migrants into employment.  This role will focus on building the capability of those involved in the program to become employment ready though group work, and will engage and build relationships with Victorian employers, where candidates can be matched.

 

Day to day, you will:

  • Lead the project and deliver group work with clients, using an online employment learning platform
  • Work with and alongside volunteers and / or students who will support the program
  • Provide quality casework support which identifies key client strengths, needs, resources available to meet those needs and the methods to assist the client to achieve meaningful change and self-agency

 

To be successful in this role you will have a high level of cultural competence and the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds who have experienced grief, loss, torture, and trauma and who experience ongoing safety risks. You will also have proven ability to provide high quality casework support, and a demonstrated understanding of how to holistically assess complex client needs, including conducting risk assessments, and developing effective case plans and safety planning.

 

In addition, Case Workers contribute to co-design practice and adapt and innovate ways of working in order to improve Red Cross’s response to the needs of migrants in transition.

 

What you will bring

 

  • Demonstrated understanding of how to holistically assess complex client needs, including conducting risk assessments, and developing effective case plans and safety planning
  • Sound casework/ case management experience including holistic assessment of client needs and development of case plans.
  • Experience in working with marginalised people in the community
  • Experience in working competently with staff and clients from cultural and linguistically diverse backgrounds with respect and humility.
  • A sound understanding of the social political issues and needs impacting migrants in transition (including people seeking asylum, trafficked people and people who have been forced into marriage).
  • Skills and experience in a variety of client practice approaches and frameworks
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in interagency collaboration and ability to negotiate, lead collaboration, advocate and network with internal and external stakeholders (who can include statutory and law enforcement agencies)

A Working with Children Check is a mandatory requirement for this role.

This role is covered by the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award - Level 4. Salary from $85,145.84 + superannuation + access to salary packaging.
