About the role
Bilingual Support Workers are integral members of our Humanitarian Settlement Program (HSP) team, bringing cultural knowledge and fluency to support newly arrived humanitarian entrants to settle and orientate to life in Australia.
This position is for someone who has proficiency in both written and spoken Arabic and who has lived or acquired cultural understanding of Arabic speaking communities, their identity and experiences.
About you
- Understanding the cultural, political, and historical experiences of the people of Syria, Iraq, and the Occupied Palestinian Territories
- Confidence conversing in English to other professionals in private and public settings
- Understanding of the needs of humanitarian migrants who have experienced multiple and complex vulnerabilities
- Understanding the importance of managing time in a client service organisation and collaborative team structured working environment.
- Demonstrated competence in using essential business software (Microsoft Office) and mobile technologies to retrieve and record information and communicate effectively with others in Red Cross and external to Red Cross, including clients.
An Australian Driver's License and Working with Children are mandatory requirements for this role

This role is covered by the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award - Level 3. Salary from $73,823.36 + superannuation + access to salary packaging.
