Peppers Gallery Canberra, located in the contemporary hub of New Acton, is an 80-room hotel within walking distance of Canberra CBD, Lake Burley Griffin and many of Canberra's national attractions. Offering a unique blend of history and modern hospitality, the hotel is home to Bicicletta Restaurant, where guests can enjoy authentic Italian cuisine, either indoors or in the charming leafy courtyard. 

Purpose

As the Business Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Peppers Gallery Canberra as it rebrands in 2025. With your strong local market expertise, you will develop and execute sales strategies that drive revenue growth, enhance brand visibility, and optimise the hotel’s overall performance. This is a unique opportunity to be key player within the hotel's transformation, establishing it as a premier destination in the region.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with the General Manager, playing a key role throughout the hotel's transformation and rebranding
  • Create and implement strategies to sell hotel rooms and enhance corporate offerings
  • Conduct market research to identify potential clients and understand local market trends
  • Set and achieve sales targets for room bookings and event space reservations
  • Plan and execute promotional activities, campaigns, and events to attract local clientele
  • Attend local events, trade shows, and business functions to promote the hotel and network with potential clients
  • Prepare and present regular sales reports to hotel management, detailing performance against targets and market trends
  • Negotiate contracts and rates to ensure competitive pricing and mutual benefits

 

Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience in the hospitality industry within sales or business development roles
  • Demonstrated ability to think innovatively and creatively, with a proven track record of developing and implementing strategies that drive business growth and differentiate the organisation
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build and maintain relationships with local businesses, community leaders, and clients
  • Proficient in analysing sales data, generating reports, and gaining feedback to improve strategies and services
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills to work effectively with all hotel departments
  • Experience negotiating contracts and agreements with clients and partners
